Rare 5 bar Queens South Africa medal to Pte thomas Burke of The 1st Bn The Connaught Rangers.
Born : - Sligo
Enlisted into The Munster Fusiliers on the 28th June 1884 aged 14 years.
Convicted and imprisoned to 14 days in 1892 for injuring his arm.
Discharged : - Royal Munster fusiliers 6th nov 1896 after 12 years.
Reinlisted; - The Connaught Rangers 8th march 1897 aged 27 years.
Mother Hellen lived 36 Harold's Cross Cottages, Dublin.
tried by Court Martial and reduced in rank in 1905 for absence.Sentenced by Court Martial to 10 months imprisonment in 1899.
Discharged : 7th march 1909 after second period of service.
