Northern Ireland Riot Helmet 1969

Very nice early type Riot helmet as used right from the start of the Troubles 1969 - the mid 1980s .This has an original newspaper from 1972 inside the liner probably for insulation with a story of two officers captured by the IRA but released. The face shield was made in Northern Ireland in a hurry and was fixed to the first helmets and not removable, so handed over from one unit to the next for twenty years .
This helmet was certainly in the thick of it .
When these helmets were replaced, most were destroyed, so few survivors.
This one is in not bad condition
