British army helmet 1944 pattern as used in Northern Ireland

Genuine British Army issue No.1 Mk.1 Infrared Night Vision Goggles. These were used from the early days of The Troubles in Northern Ireland and are very rare.
There is a small crack that could be fixed.

Circa. 1970s.

Designed to fit on a Mk.IV 'Turtle' helmet, these goggles were mostly worn by soldiers doing secret observations at night often in rural areas along the border etc. These goggles work by converting infrared light into visible light. A picture is displayed on the back of the tubes and there are adjustable lenses on either end that can be focused for a clear picture. At night, these goggles may be used with an infrared illuminator such as a simple IR flashlight.
